Modern Philosophy
Welcome to our page for Early Modern and Modern philosophy. There is an incredible diversity to modern philosophy and the varied angles which it has taken to innovate solutions to age-old questions as well as some new ones. Beginning with the revolutionary thought of men like Machiavelli, Bacon and Descartes, early modern and modern philosophy sought break with the past, but a break that could never be complete. Drawing from Enlightenment and revolution, new scientific authority and increasing secularism, modern thinkers have recast the investigation of morals, the agency of human beings, the primacy of empirical science and the role of language in shaping reality. These are but a few of the many topics broached among modern philosophers, and we hope that the growing list of source materials below will be of assistance to you in your own investigation.
